BODY BY TYPE: Infomercial Review

The other day, I saw an infomercial for a new fitness program called “Body By Type.” I thought it was an interesting name. I'd heard of programs called “Body By. . .” and then someone's name before, but I wasn't quite sure what “Body By Type” meant. And then I saw that this was primarily a program that helps you get fit through running.

Running – body type. Hmmmm...To me, the “body type” most associated with running is the tall, lanky, thin person. For some reason, I just never think of a 300 pound man out there running a marathon. And that's when it hit me: Maybe that's exactly the body type that NEEDS to be running a marathon. Provided, that is, that he doesn't have a heart attack halfway through it.

Regardless, even though I don't quite get the name “Body By Type,” I have had a chance to look through it. I've also had a chance to talk to a former work associate who actually is using the program. And it seems like a really good way to get in shape. Most fitness programs today concentrate either on dieting or on weight lifting. So it's good to see one that takes a different approach—that of running. Running works because it raises your heart level enough to get your metabolism kicking into gear. That in turn causes your body to burn more calories. Body By Type is the best program I've seen for accomplishing this through running. And my friend who has tried the program agrees.

Honestly, I'll probably never be much of a runner (I'm closer to the 300 pound man I mentioned). But those who like running and who want to get in better shape will find few things that will help them as much, and that they will enjoy as much, as Body By Type.
