HEELTASTIC: Infomercial Review

Bulletin to makers of feet products everywhere: NOBODY LIKES UGLY FEET! That means as soon as you show us your product and immediately show how it helps someone's ugly heels or disgusting toe fungus, we swtich the channel.

The latest offender: a product called Heeltastic. Now mind you, I think the concept is wonderful: a product that whn you apply it, it smooths out the rough spots on your feet. But sometimes, some things are better just said instead of shown. Do I really want to see a woman using a sander on her feet? Or the other woman using her hard heels to pop a balloon? (And by the way, do men not care about having soft feet? How come there are no men popping balloons here?)

Lots of things in this commercial are a turn-off. Not the product itself. It's great. But how about the woman with the black panty hose. How about those bricks she calls feet? I'm betting she shops for shoes in men's department. It shows her feet tearing through her panty hose. They want us to believe it's because her heels are hard, but I think it's because there are no panty hose made that will fit her feet!

Oh and one more thing for the commercial'screators: when you boast that your product is a blend of neem oil and karanja oil....you might as well be speaking gibberish. Never heard of those. As far as I know they might be poisons or acids.

I've seen the results of Heeltastic and it's a great product. But please stop repulsing us with the commercials. Put some shoes on all your models already!

Optic 1050 Binoculars Infomercial Review

Do you have a bird watcher on your Christmas gift list? Yeah, neither do I. But if I did I know what I would get them. The Optic 1050 does seem like quite the deal. I used to do a bit of hunting and at one point was looking for a good pair of binoculars to help see game, but decided against it due to the seemingly outrageous prices. So maybe I can use the Optic 1050 set for that, oh wait, I don’t hunt anymore, dang. What can I use these 1000x magnification binoculars for?

Well my nephew is getting to the age where I can take him hiking, and a good pair of binoculars that wont break in the hands of a 5 year old could be a good thing when we are trying to look at the islands off the coast. Ok, this seems like a valid reason for me. Heck, for less then 20 bucks, I am getting the binoculars that let me see up to 35 miles (crazy to think about I know) a mini set of binoculars (I am sure I can gift those away some how) and, what’s this? A Spy Scope. How awesome sounding is that? Ok, not really, but I know that my nephew will run around for hours looking at everything through the little telescope, ugh I mean spy scope that I just gave him. The smile on his face is so worth it. Plus, I hear that bird watching is the number one growing form of recreation in the U.S. So maybe I should jump on that bandwagon for a bit.

Power Juicer Infomercial Review

I have had a juicer in the past and let me tell you, there are a whole lot of ways to make a nasty drink. I have seen several different infomercials for juicers in my day and all of them talk of the healthy and “Easy” way to get your days essential vitamins and minerals. I do agree with the healthy part. I don’t believe that just because of making my own juice I am going to be the 80 year old man running down the beach with a boogie board, but at least I wont be spending a lot of money on sugar filled drinks, however delicious they are.

Back to the point though. The most recent infomercial that I have seen related to juicers is the Power Juicer with its new sleek looking Stainless steel. The majority of the infomercial was concentrating on the making of juice and its health benefits. Great I say. That’s the reason I ever bought one. However, the one thing that they briefly touched on was the clean up. “Clean up is a breeze” they allege. Well, maybe I am just doing it wrong. You can’t just rinse it off. You have to wash it; otherwise it smells really bad in a few days. I made that mistake, and putting it in the dishwasher is exactly easy to do either.

Any who, I definitely recommend this product to anybody and everybody, especially parents with young kids. All too often parents are filling their children with sugar, and by making your own juice, at least your kids will be healthier.
