Ez Comb: Infomercial Review

I was sitting there watching early-morning TV the other day when, of course, an infomercial came on. What are people thinking when interrupting great tv shows with dumb commercials. I guess these days is all about making the money. What really perplexed me was this was action show, more for men, the product was called EZ Comb. A hair-hair product that makes it easy to put your hair up in dozens of styles. Well, thanks, but I wear a macho mullet cut.

Ok, so maybe my wife would like it then. I watched on. The EZ comb, a comb or hair band which ever you choose to call it, is made out of elastic with a comb like design on each end. It allows you to create these hair styles that I admit are kind of sexy. But I didn't quite get the need for a “style guide.” At one point they talk about, and show, how easy it is to create a butterfly effect with the EZ Comb by just twisting it around once. Ok. So if it's so simple, why the need for the Style Guide? I'm puzzled.

This commercial does definitely show that men and women have different values. They showed a similar comb device you could get—for $38. $38? !? I could buy my wife rope to tie her hair up for that price! But my wife nodded her head as though she knows $38 is common—and the $10 for the EZ Comb is a bargain.

Oh note to the commercial producers: Get a better spokeswoman next time. This one whines all the way through. “OOOOOOH NOOOOOO!” she started the commercial, as my ears bled.
