VANIQA: Infomercial Review

VANIQA: Infomercial Review

So I was on the Internet watching some commercials and saw this one for VANIQA. If you haven't heard of it, then where have you been? After all, as they brag oh-so-smugly, it is "dermatologist approved." You're just not "in" if you haven't heard of Vaniqa.

But back to the point: It's a cream that blocks the growth of facial hair. However, I felt insulted by the commercial. For a couple of reasons.

First, I felt insulted as a man. The one female announcer claims in no uncertain terms that Vaniqa is "clinically proven to reduce the growth of facial hair....IN WOMEN."

What, I'm not good enough to block my beard with Vaniqa? Does the skin cream discriminate? Does it automatically detect that this is a guy's face and say, "Oh no, not gonna do it! You just pull out a Bic razor for that stubble, buddy, because I ain't working for you!"

I was also insulted because right after the lady said it's for women, she explains because "Vaniqa is gentle." Oh now I get it. We guys have to be a bunch of brutish thugs, right? Hey, guess what? I like gentle! I even once wore my wife's "Strong Enough for a Man, but Made for a Woman" deodorant! So don't talk to me about gentle.

I also felt that my intelligence was somewhat insulted by the commercial. Especially when the one lady said that Vaniqa was "the best decision I ever made." Oh really? Better than your career choice? How about the guy you married, sis? I'll bet he's glad to hear that your choice to use a hair-prevention cream was better than your choice to marry the guy who probably loved you DESPITE your facial hair!

Still, the one thing I've learned is that even the best products can have lousy infomercials, and that's the way it is with Vaniqa. Great product, terrible commercials. But the cream itself is highly recommended. For women. Guys try it only if you're "gentle" enough.

This is a pretty awesome review. Being a guy and doing a study in this product, there are no real reasons for men to not use it. There is nothing chemical or magical about what gender is affects.
In fact there is a wonderful article written by a MtF transsexual who outlines her entire journey using Vaniqa.

Cheers,

You are unreal! You know how many women out there are in need of a product like this? Do you know how many women that need this would buy it if it was marketed to men, or to no gender? It is difficult enough to be suffering from a hormone disorder that makes you feel less feminine and even worse when you have to go buy yet another product to clear up the problem that is marketed to MEN.

Your need to bitch about something so trivial makes me sick. Go use your wifes deodorant and her tampons while you are at it!
